«  Je me rappelle que pendant deux étés au moins, je ne voyais de ce qui m'entourait qu'une grande pierre qui se trouvait à environ 800 mètres du village […]. C'était un monolithe d'une couleur dorée, s'ouvrant à la base sur une caverne  : tout le dessous était creux, l'eau avait fait ce travail. […] Depuis ce jour nous passâmes là toutes nos matinées et nos après-midi. Nous étions cinq ou six enfants, toujours les mêmes, qui ne nous quittions jamais. Tous les matins, en m'éveillant, je cherchais la pierre. De la maison, je la voyais dans ses moindres détails, ainsi que, tel un fil, le petit chemin qui y menait  ; tout le reste était vague et inconsistant, de l'air qui ne s'accroche à rien. […] Une fois, je ne saurais me rappeler par quel hasard, je m'éloignai plus que d'habitude. Peu après, je me retrouvai sur une hauteur. Devant moi, un peu en contrebas, au milieu des broussailles, se dressait une énorme pierre noire présentant la forme d'une pyramide étroite et pointue dont les parois tombaient presque verticalement. Je ne puis exprimer le sentiment de dépit et de déroute que j'éprouvai à ce moment. La pierre me frappa immédiatement comme un être vivant, hostile, menaçant. Elle menaçait tout : nous, nos jeux et notre caverne. Son existence m'était intolérable et je sentis tout de suite — ne pouvant pas la faire disparaître — qu'il fallait l'ignorer, l'oublier et n'en parler à personne. Il m'arriva néanmoins de m'approcher d'elle, mais ce fut avec le sentiment de me livrer à quelque chose de répréhensible, de secret, de louche. Je la touchai à peine d'une main avec répulsion et effroi. J'en fis le tour, tremblant d'y découvrir une entrée. Pas trace de caverne […] Je m'enfuis loin de cette pierre noire, je n'en parlais pas aux autres enfants, je l'ignorai et ne retournai plus la voir […] qu'il fallait l'ignorer, l'oublier et n'en parler à personne» That you You had You want You do You can do You can do so You wanted to do so much You can do anything Actually I turned ON all of the lights, Because I am scared of the dark
